Upstate Working Group
I-ARC is committed to statewide advocacy and on-the-ground support of the immigration legal service provider community.
I-ARC’s upstate working group meets monthly, bringing together upwards of 30 upstate NY immigration legal service providers for cross-regional discussion with the goal of increased coordination around projects and resource-sharing, as well as issue-spotting statewide. Common agenda items include trends, issues, and resources by region, updates from the Buffalo immigration court, problems at the Batavia detention facility, and northern-border specific concerns, among other topics. These meetings also serve to help I-ARC identify members’ priorities for the coming year and to build out I-ARC’s support for upstate members through up-to-date resource creation and advocacy. We routinely have member spotlights to better inform the group about referrals and resources across the state, as well as guest speakers and presenters.
Please reach out to our membership team at members@immigrantarc.org if you would like to join the upstate working group meetings and listserv.
I-ARC also co-hosts a map of upstate immigration legal service providers in collaboration with the Cornell Farmworker Advocacy Clinic. Providers can access this resource to understand the landscape of services available by county across upstate.
