Gang enforcement has increasingly become a pretext for carrying out immigration enforcement against young Latin American migrants, resulting in unjust deportations and eroding of trust between communities and law enforcement. I-ARC and its members have been working to bring transparency and accountability.

Behind Bars in the Empire State

From mobilizing hundreds of attorneys to help asylum seekers transferred to the Albany County Jail to providing ongoing case representation to detained immigrants in New York, I-ARC members are all-too-familiar with the challenges posed by Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention practices.

Detention Outreach Project

In the summer of 2018, in the midst of the family separation crisis, the US Government transferred nearly 400 asylum seekers to a county jail in upstate New York. I-ARC mobilized hundreds of volunteers to travel to Albany, meet with the detainees, and help get them released.
